BSKI-EGKA North West Open Style Tournament Results
Childwall Dojo would like to say a big congratulations to all who competed in the BSKI-EGKA North West Open Style Tournament on Sunday 25th April 2010. With an early start of 8:30am and a finishing time of roughly 5:30pm, it goes without saying that all the competitors and referees had a long, tiresome day.
The tournament, predominantly Shotokan Karate, was held at Everton Park Sports Centre, and was organised by Sensei Damion Wood (EGKA) and Sensei Kenny Tsai of the BSKI (British Shotokan Karate Institute). A number of different organisations were present at the tournament, competing from all over England and Wales.
The tournament even consisted of adult categories in Kata, Team Kata, Kumite and Team Kumite, allowing some of our older karateka to compete.
Paul Brailsford, Stephen Quirk and John Timson of Childwall Dojo, Jordan Birch and Daniel Healy who also train with us, Thomas James, Daniel Hardman and Matthew Brookfield from Ormskirk Dojo and Thomas Dagnall from Anfield Dojo all represented the EGKA (and also the IOGKF) in the tournament, and performed extremely well in the Shotokan-heavy tournament. A number of the adults competing were even Ex-England Shotokan Champions, setting the standard for others competing.
